Located in a listed building in a historic conservation area of Lambeth in London, this bright and stylish house had been left empty for over ten years before the current owners decided to transform it into a family home. The run down interior required extensive work to bring it to modern living standards, but the original features and thus the heritage and historic details of the building were carefully preserved. The house was refurbished by Fraher Architects, a design and architecture studio based in London. Various elements were restored, including the fireplaces and the original wood panels on the walls. On the ground floor, the space was opened to create an airy living space. A glazed extension fills the dining room area and the kitchen with natural light. The color palette features light brown hues, white, and gray, with hints of blue adding a touch of vibrancy. Wood is used throughout the home, from the flooring to furniture, bringing warmth to the contemporary décor. The Lambeth Marsh House blends classic and modern features in a cozy home that acknowledges and celebrates its past. Photos by Jack Hobhouse.
