Style and technical features define the Fall/Winter 2016 Apocalypse Then collection designed by all-weather outerwear brand Welter Shelter. As impressive in their minimal design as they are in their innovative use of premium materials, this range of jackets and coats provide the ideal wardrobe upgrade solution for the colder months. The Amsterdam-based company has a penchant for making all-weather jackets with cutting-edge fabrics. The Spring/Summer 2016 range featured a completely waterproof waxed cotton fabric that was both breathable and lightweight, but for this season the brand takes outerwear to a new level of performance and comfort. In collaboration with Meida, Welter Shelter has developed a superior insulation that is thin, flexible, breathable, and designed to provide maximum warmth, as it features one layer of thousands of pressed Polyethylene micro-fibers on a square millimeter to offer the same warmth of a woolen sweater. Most of the jackets in the collection are made with 0.8cm thick 150gr of MEIDA insulation which equals to five woolen sweaters. Apart from preserving the warmth, the insulation also protects the wearer from brisk winds. Some items have removable interior body warmers for milder weather, while the heavy duty coat is designed to keep the body warm even in -30 temperatures. In terms of outer fabrics, the brand uses premium materials made in some of the finest mills in Italy, including cashmere wool blends, rugged polyesters and three-layer cotton fabrics, all in darker colors. Lightweight and elegant, the jackets and coats from this collection offer maximum protection against the cold while bringing a chic urban style to fall and winter outfits.
