Patagonia is a different kind of outdoor clothing and gear manufacturer. The first hint comes from all the way back to 1993, when the brand made a fleece from recycled plastic bottles. The second proof is nuanced in the company’s mission statement: “Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.” Now, the new re//collection range takes eco-friendly clothing to a whole new level of responsible design. “From the insulation to the outer materials—all the way down to the buttons and drawcords—this collection is an experiment in creativity and responsibility,” says Miles Johnson, creative director of product design.

The collection includes jackets and coats, vests and shirts, as well as pants and a skirt, all made with 100% recycled down, wool and polyester, 85% recycled polyester labels, 80% recycled zippers, and 50% recycled buttons. Featuring a distinctive design and materials that combine warm insulation and functionality, the collection illustrates the potential of true eco-friendly clothing. Looking at this innovative range, the future certainly acquires a brighter shade of green. Photo credits: Patagonia.
