Traditional craftsmanship and modern design combine with ingenious techniques to pay homage to both artisan skill and to the beauty of natural materials in the Radiant collection. Designed for Brossier Saderne by Frédéric Saulou and made in collaboration with engraving and sandblasting specialists, the floor and wall lamps feature an intricate lace pattern design and simple wooden bases.

The patterns of slate paving and roofs inspired the main element of the lamps, with high-pressure sandblasting methods used to create the lattice patterns reminiscent of Mashrabiya designs. Thus, the slate stands at the line between fragility and strength, its complex beauty complementing the simplicity of the solid wood details perfectly. As the LED light glows behind the black slate lace, the objects come to life and display both the allure of the natural and of the man-made. The lamps belong to the “Domestiquer” collection, which brings together semi-artisanal and artisanal manufacturers in collaborative projects aimed at exploring new applications for natural materials. The lamps were introduced at an exhibition organized by the art collective Made In France in Transparency, and at the Equip’Hotel Paris expo. Images courtesy of Frédéric Saulou.
