Tex-Lock – A Fabric Bike Lock As Tough As Steel

View all 8 Photos

There are times when new products improve the features of their predecessors. And there are times when new designs revolutionize the original concept and render the previous products obsolete. Part of the latter category, tex-lock will make bicycle owners from around the world say goodbye to their old bike clamps.
Designed by Leipzig-based Tex-Lock, this innovative bike clamp combines the strength of steel with the flexibility of rope in a fabric product. Made from high-tech textile and woven in a multi-layered rope-like structure, the lock is both lightweight and impressively strong. It’s resistant to water and fire, and unlike metals, it doesn’t break under the blade of an axe or under the pressure of a wire cutter. Easy to carry around in a backpack, the bike clamp weighs only 350 grams per meter. It also has a beautiful appearance and comes in various colors and textures to please both cyclists and design lovers.

The company’s crowdfunding campaign surpassed its stated goal almost three times over within a few days. By the time the campaign ends on March 15, it will surely shatter some records. And maybe not just in the bicycle accessory category. Photo credits: Tex-Lock.
