Plants are marvels of design. Engineered through evolution, they are pure form and perfect function. Barcelona-based studio Goula Figuera augments that elemental design with “Viride” (meaning ‘green’ in Latin), a series of illuminated LED planters.

The use of self-timed artificial light allows this set of holders to grow vegetation indoors, independent of natural illumination. “Viride blends the suggestive capability for transforming interiors of light with the decorative and natural beauty of plants in a new typology of object,” explain the designers.

Each model is calibrated for a specific plants’ morphology, with design that matches the aesthetic beauty of each species. “Viride Uno” was created for air plants, and features one static and one large LED light. “Viride Dos” boasts a rotating plant container and ultrasonic humidifier designed to keep the air moist. “Viride Tres” was conceived for handing plants, and features orbiting LED panels.

The series conjoins the natural with the technical. Each planter accentuates the beauty of the plants – informed by the peerless design of nature.
