Industrial designer Jeremy Lacy provides visualization services through his DownShift Studio. Passionate about anything and everything relating to the automotive industry, Lacy creates both freehand sketches and digital renderings that help companies and workshops visualize the final product before the customization process begins. Now the designer has completed his first custom build, in a collaboration with Joel Fitzgerald. And it looks not only technically impressive, but also gorgeous. Using a Honda CX500 as a base bike, the two-man team removed the original subframe and transformed the twin shock into a mono shock, adding a new swing arm and reinforced mounts at the same time. They then moved the fuel tank base to ensure that it smoothly follows the lines of the new design.
This street scrambler also features rebuilt forks with Racetech springs, 34mm Mikuni carburetors, and Cone Engineering exhausts. Minimalist but stylish, the bike comes with a brown leather seat that stands out alongside black and dark gray tones. Black wheels with Shinko 705 dual sport tires complete the fierce look. This custom motorcycle made its debut at the 2017 Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Texas. Pretty amazing for a first build. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing DownShift’s next project.
