Just like wood and marble, ceramic objects can have a sculptural presence. Designer Mario Alessiani explores this concept with the elegant and refined Pencil collection. Made for Italian brand Hatria, the washbasin range blends style with craftsmanship. The design follows on the footsteps of the studio’s mission – to create “functionally beautiful” products. The sculptural edge of the washbasins reminds of hand carved wood or sculpted marble in an homage to artisanal objects.
Unlike delicate tea cups or plates, the collection highlights the strong presence of the ceramic material thanks to the thick walls which also feature a play between straight lines and curved shapes. Undeniably modern, the Pencil collection brings a distinctive character into contemporary bathrooms while celebrating classic design and the spirit of age-old craftsmanship. And the best part?
