Seeing architects design furniture that displays the same principles used to create houses is a refreshing sight. The Dublin-based Tierney Haines Architects studio shows an impressive ability to combine various creative fields in a varied portfolio. Apart from architectural work, the practice also offers design, photography or landscape architecture services. We previously wrote about one of the studio’s designs – a gorgeous house by the seaside.

Among the numerous stunning pieces of furniture created by this multi-disciplinary practice, one design caught our eye. The Divider Chair blends minimalism, natural materials and craftsmanship, with a hefty dose of creativity which makes it look more like a décor accent than a seating solution. Modern and distinctive, the chair feature intriguing details, including an elevated and narrow backrest that provides optimum support and a bright yellow accent that contrasts the organic texture of the wood. Form and function combine with an artistic flair in a design that would blend into a mid-century home or a futuristic living space in equal measure. Photo credits: Tierney Haines Architects.
